Getting Here

Prespa Lakeview Villa is in Pretor, on the western shore of Lake Prespa, about 25 minutes south of the town of Resen. The nearest airports are Ohrid (OHD) — about 1 hour by car — and Skopje (SKP) — about 2.5 hours. From Greece, Thessaloniki (SKG) is roughly 3 hours by car.

Most guests drive. If you're flying in from elsewhere and don't want to rent a car, we can arrange a taxi pickup from Resen, Bitola, or Ohrid.

By car

From Skopje (capital)

~2 hours 30 minutes · ~200 km

The fastest route is south via the E65/A3 motorway to Bitola, then west on the regional road through Resen to Pretor. The last 30 minutes from Resen winds along the lake shore — one of the prettier drives in the country.

From Ohrid

~1 hour · ~55 km

The scenic route crosses Galicica National Park via the mountain pass road — allow extra time for photo stops. The faster route goes via Resen on regular road.

From Bitola

~50 minutes · ~45 km

Straight west on the regional road through Resen, then south along the lake to Pretor.

From Thessaloniki, Greece

~3 hours · via Niki/Medzitlija border

Take the A2 motorway west to Florina, then north through the Niki-Medzitlija border crossing into Macedonia. Continue via Bitola and Resen.

From Tirana or Korce, Albania

~3-4 hours · via Stenje/Gorica or Struga/Kjafasan border

From Korce, the Stenje-Gorica border is the most direct route into the Prespa region. From Tirana, most drivers route via Struga and Ohrid.

⚠️ If you're driving a Greek rental car

Cross-border travel from Greece to North Macedonia is permitted by select rental companies (Enterprise, Greenmotion, Centauro, AutoUnion and others), typically with a one-time Green Card fee of approximately €60-€120 + VAT. You must request permission at booking or at least 7 days in advance and get written confirmation — Greek border officials check insurance documents. Not all companies allow this, so confirm during booking to avoid problems at the border.

⚠️ About the Markova Noga / Lemos border crossing

The direct border between Greece and Macedonia at Markova Noga (near Lemos) is not yet open — opening is planned for 2027-28. Until then, the only way to drive from Greece to Prespa is via the Niki/Medzitlija crossing near Florina/Bitola.

To Resen

Daily departures from Skopje, Bitola, Ohrid

Regular daily buses run to Resen from Skopje, Bitola, and Ohrid. From Resen, we can arrange a taxi pickup directly to the villa — about a 30-minute drive.

By train

To Bitola

Daily service from Skopje

One daily train runs Skopje → Bitola, departing Skopje around 7:00 AM. The journey takes about 5 hours and a one-way ticket costs approximately €8. From Bitola railway station, we can arrange a taxi to the villa.

Tip: if you're on a tight budget, a bus from Bitola to Resen is cheaper, then taxi from Resen (€20-25)

If you'd rather skip the bus or train, we can arrange a private taxi pickup directly from Ohrid airport or Skopje airport. Send us your flight details and we'll quote a price and confirm timing. This is the easiest option if you're arriving late or with luggage.
